Happy Twenty-First Birthday, Mira!
Remember that poem that I wrote for you and put in your birthday note jar? It wasn’t actually a poem…

Mira my dear-a
How glad that I am
To have you in my life today and tomorrow
Mira my dear-a
How sad that I am
To miss you the first eighteen years of our lives
The late night talks
And campus walks
They carried me through
Some ups and downs
And all around a lovely friendship full of shared communication
Mira it’s clear-a
Your kindness abounds
Towards me and our friends and whomever’s around
Mira it’s clear-a
Because of you
I have an example of what I should do
In order to
Become more true
To myself and others
I’ll see you and I’ll say me too
When fingers slip past noses and you say I love you
Mira, this year-a
I’m hoping for you
A joyful year, amazing at it’s worst
For your twenty-first.
